Who wouldn’t love to dress up like Al Capone and start a virtual life as a gangster in the golden era for organized crime? This is exactly what I was asking myself when I first saw some footage of Haemimont Games’ Omerta: City of Gangsters. It instantly brought me back to my childhood, back to the time when I spent my time playing the original Gangsters and its sequel. Even though those two titles weren’t critically praised, they were great in my eyes. Days went by while I was shooting other criminals, taking down hostile businesses and setting up my own to eventually take over the whole city. It’s too bad that the genre seems to be pretty dry, as there haven’t been much gangster simulation titles after Gangsters 2, so I bet you can see why I got pretty excited once I saw the first footage of Omerta: City of Gangsters.
