For the last five years I’ve followed the E3 religiously, following all the press conference and news until deep in the night. I’m also doing this during this years’ E3, with both Microsoft and Sony showing off their new hardware and upcoming titles. It certainly looks like the battle between the two giants is going to be fierce when both the Xbox One and Playstation 4 launch in the fourth quarter of 2013, but what can we expect from them?
Around 16 hours ago the new Xbox One console from Microsoft was announced. We got to see the console, the controller, and some content. This announcement could’ve been a glorious day for Microsoft, revealing what they are all about and taking away the fears of the consumers about numerous issues. Instead Microsoft failed to show of anything compelling and even disappointed a lot of consumers and press, including myself.
I love my Playstation 3 ever since I bought the console back in 2006. The library of games I have for the platform is over 60 titles strong, and includes amazing titles as Uncharted, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Borderlands 2, Red Dead Redemption and LittleBigPlanet. I’ve literally put thousands of hours into playing these amazing experiences.

Who wouldn’t love to dress up like Al Capone and start a virtual life as a gangster in the golden era for organized crime? This is exactly what I was asking myself when I first saw some footage of Haemimont Games’ Omerta: City of Gangsters. It instantly brought me back to my childhood, back to the time when I spent my time playing the original Gangsters and its sequel. Even though those two titles weren’t critically praised, they were great in my eyes. Days went by while I was shooting other criminals, taking down hostile businesses and setting up my own to eventually take over the whole city. It’s too bad that the genre seems to be pretty dry, as there haven’t been much gangster simulation titles after Gangsters 2, so I bet you can see why I got pretty excited once I saw the first footage of Omerta: City of Gangsters.
